Galatians 3:15-25

This passage was particularly difficult to understand so i had to check some stuff out online. Which is good. Because i dont want/like mindless reading. And it’s v easy to read mindlessly and be totally unaware of it (because.. Mindless) so since it’s the hols, i will try posting during daytime and noy before i sleep.

Anw, this passage is titled The Law and the Promise. The first verse of this passage alr talks abt how easy/common it is to “set aside or add to a human covenant that has been duly established” because paul took “an example ftom everyday life”.

I think daily many Christians, including me, try to alter God’s promise to suit our whims and fancies and we inaccurately represent Christianity and God. I think the way we act is v impt in the sense that when ppl know we’re Christians, it shouldnt repel them away from God but draw them closer. (trying to live by this)

In v16, paul talks about what the Promise rly is and it is the one in Gen 12:1-7 and 22:17-18. I used to think “your seed” referred to Abraham’s offspring/ sonS. But v16 says that he said “your seed” meaning one person (not seedS) - Christ.

Gen 22:18 “and through your seed, all nations will be blessed”. For ALL nations to be blessed i think it would take a very Big person to do and not one of abraham’s manyyy sons.

V19 - WHY the Law was implemented. The purpose of the law is clarified in v24 and in the NLT version it says . And i read online that here “charge” or smt in hebrew doesnt mean schoolmaster. But the law was the person who guided us while we were walking to school which is a great analogy. I never knew this :D therefore meaning that before faith “the whole world is a prisoner of sin” and the (moral) law had let us know that it is physically IMPOSSIBLE to attain ANYTHING without Christ.

This is not to say that wow the only reason the law was there was so ppl could be “prisoners of sin” to prepare them to accept the offer of salvation thru Jesus but it was to also, prevent us from falling into sin. With the law ppl then knew what was right/wrong, good/bad. It was our guardian that brought us to School/Christ where we received actual instruction.

V20 talks about HOW it was implemented - “by a mediator”. See, this part got abit confusing for me but from what i read online it means that a mediator often is resolving something between TWO parties. Here it says smt about how God is one and a mediator doesnt just represent one party.

Here it was talking abt how God is the same God towards the a) Jews and b) Gentiles. The God who is the same then and now, this grace and faith is extended toward All of US as well.

Personally i think it could also mean that the coming of Jesus was the bridge between Law and Faith.

In v25, it states that now since we have faith, we’re not “under the supervision of the law” anymore. Like what i said just now, i hope i, for one, dont twist the words here because to some it may mean ‘i can do WHATEVER i like because God wants me to be happy and “lead the abundant life” and now i am no longer UNDER LAW but under GRACE so God will forgive me.’ (not exact words but paraphrasing smt ive actually heard)

Ergo, Grace is not a license to sin. It is something you need when you DO sin. Where sin abounds, grace abounds ever MORE.

But after receiving God’s grace (thru salvation) “no one who is born of God will continue to sin because God’s seed remains in him” (1 John 3:9).

It’s not ONLY that God will forgive alll of my sins (which is true) but there wont be the NEED to continue sinning. An encounter with God is like putting a piece of paper to a flame - it has to catch fire. And if you havent encountered God you would know this because then you would still be the same.

Galatians 3:1-14

So im just supposed to do one passage instead of one chapter! Nvm, then i can read Jeremiah with Diane more even tho ive stopped in the middle of Psalms (a very long book!)

Gal 3:1-14 is about legalism VS God’s grace. Honestly, if we’re talking about legalism here then “all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God”. If we were living under law, none of us would “make the cut” - not even one. So thank God for His grace! It states in v10 that “all who rely on observing the law are under a curse” and that cursed is everyone who lives by the law. It might mean that literally you could be cursed by whatever for living under law, but to me, it means more that if i were to live under law, my life would seem cursed. Everything would be infinitely harder and more tiring and stressful and everyday would be me failing and not “matching up to God’s standards”. Obviously my life would seem “cursed”.

(rambling, sorry!!)

Ive read once that lets say im in school and suddenly my teacher comes up to me and starts scolding me. My friends would be like “dude, what did you do?” and then suddenly the principal comes in with a cane and they’d be like “OMG what did you do?!?!” and then suddenly the police would come in with handcuffs and my friends would be going crazy saying “WAD DID U DO?!?”

Yeah so basically, desperate times call for desperate measures. God didnt just hand us a brochure and say “chill” or wtv. He sent His Son to die on the cross which is a PRETTY BIG DEAL to me.

The Cross was necessary to save us, so “What did we do?” Ive read that “Salvation is free, but it’s not cheap. It cost Jesus His life; and if you accept His gift, it will cost yours.”

Galatians 2

I was going to read Galatians 2 and post this tmr morning but i remebered what i said ystd and decided to stop making excuses. So here i am.

Chap 2:5 talks about “not (giving) in for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might remain in you.” This is kind of uh… Reversible? If we give in for just one moment, the devil is going to pounce cos he’s just waiting to devour. And once he does, the word doesnt remain in us anymore. If the truth of the gospel fails to remain in us, then we will fall and we will give in. This reminds me of the fact that if i want to stay strong in my faith, even if other people say im wrong about Christianity/God/the existence of God, i cant give in right?

This is taking me alot of honesty to say it. Either that or im just whining to myself.

In v11, paul opposes peter and it states that paul did it “to his face because he was clearly in the wrong”. Which was kinda pwnage? Anw i feel that sometimes if i see someone “clearly in the wrong” i dont dare to say anyth which sucks cos i dont wanna be a hypocrite. Im learning more about courage and what it takes to be courageous now so i hope it’s working out well.

Also, paul is a BOSS. He ends chapter 2 with versr 21 saying “i do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through law, Christ died for nothing!” Nuff said.

I want the same boldness as Paul to say such statements knowing i am telling the truth.

Galatians 1

Paul wrote this letter to the Christian churches in the Roman province of Galatia. The churches were confused by false teachers called Judaizers who said that people weren’t saved unless they obeyed all Jewish laws eg circumcision and eating special foods etc. They also said Paul didnt have authority from God and therefore no one should listen to him.

Gal 1:8 talks about how if anyone, including angels, were to preach a different gospel, he should be eternally condemned. This rly reminds me not to misrepresent Christ in everything i say/do. I dont want to falsely “advertise” my faith and reduce God’s glory to a state that man imagine it to be. God’s power, when reduced, cannot work because how can He, if we’re limiting Him?

From v11 to 24, it’s titled “Paul Called by God” and many ppl then thought he didnt deserve to preach it/no one shld listen to Him. And it makes me think of how sometimes we say “But God didnt call me… I think im just gonna wait…” life is not a sequence of things waiting to be done!! Uh remember luke 10:2? THAT is God calling EVERY SINGLE PERSON. He’s “sending you out” so “go!” it tells me that no - i cannot keep making excuses.

God is starting something new, so you better be ready for it! God, i dont want to miss out! :)
